海風にも強いアルミの無塗装ボディ

今回取り上げる話題は、

海風にも強いアルミの無塗装ボディ

です。

ゴムタイヤ車輪を用いる AGT 車両は、

鉄製の車輪を用いる鉄道車両に比べ

ゴムタイヤの許容荷重が小さいので、

車体の軽量化が重要課題です。

車体を自動車のような塗装仕様に

すると、パテと塗料の重量だけで

乗客２人分に相当する重さになります。

軽量化が重要なAGTで主流になって いるアルミ合金の車体は、

塗装の代わりに表面を細かいやすりで こすると錆びにくくなるという性質を 使って塗装を省略しています。

アルミ製ボディの製造工程に

自動車の自動洗車機のような設備が あり、洗車機のモップの代わりに ステンレス製のタワシが高速で回転して アルミの表面に細かい傷をつけます。

こうしてできた車体を数日間放置して おくと、強固な保護皮膜ができて 塗装しなくても錆びからボディを守る ようになります。

この防護皮膜は、ゆりかもめのような 海風にさらされる環境の車両でも、

しっかりボディを守ってくれるほど 強固なものです。

cars with steel wheels, so reducing

the weight of the car body is an

important issue.

If the car body is painted like an

automobile, the weight of the

putty and paint alone is

equivalent to that of two passengers.

Aluminum alloy car bodies, which

are mainstream in AGT where

weight reduction is important,

omit painting by using the

property of rust resistance when

the surface is rubbed with a fine

sandpaper instead of paint.

In the process of manufacturing

aluminum bodies, equipment

similar to an automatic car wash

is used. Instead of a mop in the

wash, a stainless steel scrubber is

rotated at high speed to make fine

scratches on the aluminum

surface.

When the body thus created is left

for several days, a strong

protective coating is formed to

protect the body from rusting

without the need for painting.

This protective coating is so

strong that even vehicles in

environments exposed to sea

breezes, such as the Yurikamome,

are well protected by the body.
