今回取り上げる話題は、

ループ式ターミナル駅

です。

朝の通勤客の様子がニュースで流される ことの多い品川駅。

その品川駅に次いで1日の利用者が多い 大宮駅。

ニューシャトルは、その大宮駅を

起点として終点の内宿駅まで

13駅、12.7kmのAGT路線です。

ニューシャトルの大宮駅は、

ホームの両端が上下線と90度

直行するように配置されている

ループ式ターミナル駅です。

人の脚に見立てると、上り線は ふくらはぎを下に進み、踵で90度

向きを変え、足の裏に当たる大宮駅の プラットホームに停車します。

乗降完了後、足の指を越えて足の甲を 経て脚の脛の下り線を進みます。

プラットホームに到着した6両の

車両の扉から一斉に吐き出された

大勢の通勤客が、幅の広い数段の

階段を下り、綺麗に6台の改札機

を通ってJR方面の通路に向かう流れは、 漏斗を流れる水の様で、

なんとも流麗な動きです。

人の流れに加えて、 ループ式ターミナル駅は、 運転席が入れ替わらない、 分岐が不要など、運行に負担の かからないシンプルな駅構造です。

Shinagawa Station is often on the

news for its morning commuters.

Omiya Station has the following

largest number of daily passengers after Shinagawa Station.

The New Shuttle is a 13-stop,

12.7-km AGT line that starts at

Omiya Station and ends at

Uchijuku Station.

The New Shuttle's Omiya Station

is a loop terminal station, with

both ends of the platforms arranged so that the upper and lower lines run 90 degrees in a direct line with each other.

If we look at it as a human leg, the

up line proceeds down the calf,

turns 90 degrees at the heel, and

stops at the platform of Omiya

Station, where it hits the sole of

the foot.

After completing boarding and

disembarking, the train continues

on the down line past the toes,

through the instep, and down the

shin of the leg.

The flow of the large number of

commuters who have been

ejected simultaneously from the

doors of the six cars arriving at

the platform, down the few wide

steps, and neatly through the six

turnstiles to the JR connecting

corridor is like water flowing

through a funnel, a very fluid

movement.

In addition to the flow of people,

the loop terminal station has a

simple station structure that does

not place a burden on operations,

with no interchanging of drivers

and no need for branching.
